Inconvenient monster alarms, a sparkly array of princess guests, and spot-on slapstick pacing make for a party readers will celebrate.

Today is Princess Magnolia’s birthday party, and she wants everything to be perfect. But just as her guests are arriving . . . Brring! Brring! The monster alarm! Princess Magnolia runs to the broom closet, ditches her frilly clothes, and becomes the Princess in Black! She rushes to the goat pasture, defeats the monster, and returns to the castle before her guests discover her secret. But every time Princess Magnolia is about to open her presents, the monster alarm rings again. And every time she rushes back—an inside-out dress here, a missing shoe there—it gets harder to keep the other princesses from being suspicious. Don’t those monsters understand that now is not a good time for an attack?

My Thoughts:

I thought this books was all types of funny. I read this to my sister Shannon and she laughed so much. Hale was such a good author have Princess Magnolia transform into a super hero and having so much fun adventuring off and saving her kingdom. At the end that's when I really laughed the most when she tried to cover up her identify and not get caught. I even read it to her as a bed time story and as she was falling  she woke up and said she still wanted to hear more. This a perfect story book to read to your younging's  while they are off to bed. Candlewick published the funny book and I quench for more books to have a laugh and a blast reading.

Or risk compromising everything . . .

Bestselling author Lisa T. Bergren presents the first book in her new YA futuristic dystopian series—The Remnants Novels—fitting in with the current dystopian trend in the marketplace.

My Thoughts:

Sean of Wonder had me in shock. I have never sat down and finished a book in a day before. I connected with the plot so much and I could feel the emotion. I thought this was just a regular story that I was gonna either like or dislike but it went more than that in my opinion. I found out the concept of it all and the meaning on why the author chose to write to story in the first place. I couldn't ask for a better story to get in twined with and snuggle with. It was so good, I had to reread it for my reading challenge I had set for myself. The author put effort into this an I could tell. The writing style was good but not great. I was expecting a whole lot from the author in the beginning because I had o clue what was going on. However, there was something about the book that I just had to give it another try and cast out all negative judgments and give it another go.

Along the Way: Three Friends, 33 Days, and One Unforgettable Journey on the Camino de Santiago by Jacqueline Kolosov

Three friends, 33 days, and 500 miles walking the Camino de Santiago add up to one journey they’ll never forget

Piper Rose, Dani Shapiro, and Alexandra ‘Tessa’ Louise De Mille Morrow share a history that goes back to their preschool years in Chicago when their families were still intact. Now Piper lives in Evanston with her divorced dad, her estranged, unstable mother popping in and out of her life at random moments. Meanwhile, Dani’s been living in Santa Fe with a psychologist mom pregnant with her fiancĂ©’s IVF babies. The blueblood Tessa resides on a prominent street in Boston and dreams of a romantic and well-heeled love story like that of her great-grandmother who went to France during World War II. Now that it’s the summer before college, these radically different friends decide to celebrate their history and their future by walking the legendary pilgrimage along the Way of St. James, from the French Pyrenees to the Spanish city of Santiago. Along the way, each young woman must learn to believe in herself as well as in her friends, as their collective journey unfolds into the experience of a lifetime.

My Thoughts:

Looking for a great road trip book to enjoy, well this is the book for you. I had a blast going along with there adventure and finding out what they were going to do. This book had a lot of drama that had me wanting more. It was like watching "Day's of Our Lives" (my favorite soap) and just really getting into it to find out what they were doing and how they will overcome the many obstacles they faced.  This book also reminded me of one of Sarah Dessen's great books. Kolosov is a darn good author that even surprised me. It's had keeping up with the drama and it did confuse me but when I kept up with the book and really devoted my time there was nothing I could do but get comfy and enjoy the story line.

The Author:

Jacqueline Kolosov walked the Way of St. James/Camino of Santiago in the summer of 1999 and had her own share of miracles (including a pony who stepped onto the path) as well as bed bugs and cyclists. Next to giving birth to her daughter, the pilgrimage is hands down the most exhilarating event of her life. Jacqueline has published several novels for teens including THE RED QUEEN’S DAUGHTER and GRACE FROM CHINA. She also writes short stories, essays and poetry. Her third collection of poems is MEMORY OF BLUE, and she has a short story collection, LOVE, THE BITTERSWEET forthcoming. A passionate animal lover, she lives with her family including 3 dogs, 2 guinea pigs and a 1/2 Andalusian mare in West Texas. Jacqueline teaches creative writing and literature at Texas Tech university. She loves to run, swim, and practice yoga. And like the friends in Along The Way, she is a bookworm, a clothes horse, and an avid (amateur) artist.

The Balance Project by Susie Orman

balanceWeek of May 25: The Balance Project by Susie Orman Schnall
Destination: Hit the streets of New York City
Katherine Whitney has the perfect job, an amazing husband, two loveable daughters and just released a hit book. Unbeknownst to everyone, Katherine’s life is actually falling a part, and it is her assistant, Lucy Cooper, holding it together. But when Katherine does the unthinkable to Lucy, Lucy must determine if the stress on her life is worth pleasing her boss.

My Thoughts:
There's not much that I can say to tell you about the book. I'm shocked and lost for words. I really didn't expect to like the book as much as I did but there were some weak moments in the books. I felt a connection with the characters but not all the time. The beginning did start of a little slow in my opinion  and I at times I would focus on the story and not really fully understand what I read so I had to re-read the book. However when I read it the second time I liked it a little bit better than the first. The cover was beautiful I might add that now and Schnall was a great author I just had to get use to her writing style to connect with and see her point when she wrote the story.

About the Author:

Originally from Los Angeles, Susie Orman Schnall graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. Schnall has written for national and local publications about parenting and health. She lives in New York with her husband and their three young boys. ON GRACE is her debut novel.

Wishful Thinking by Kamy Wicoff

spark_wishfulthinking_finaljulyWeek of May 18: Wishful Thinking by Kamy Wicoff
Destination: Enjoy the bustle of Manhattan
Jennifer Sharpe is a single mom of two struggling to balance her work and home life. One fateful day, a brilliant physicist decides to play fairy godmother and install a time-travelling app on Jennifer’s phone: Wishful Thinking. Jennifer is finally able to devote herself fully to every aspect of her life, but why does Jennifer feel more busy than ever?

My Thoughts:

Wishful thinking or as I like to call it the iPad book was great. It was a little thick but I still had a blast finding out the story's main point and seeing if I loved it or wanted to enjoy it. I can honestly say I enjoyed it. I had so much excitement just flipping through the pages getting the juicy details. I felt it for Jennifer because she struggled as a single mom which a lot of people deal with and it sad that they have to go through that. The fairy godmother was a beautiful touch in the story. It felt like a "Walt Disney" princess movie (which I enjoy) and that had to be my favorite part. Read this book and come along for the adventure she holds making her life better or finding about herself ?
